I just received a letter from SMT stating that they are contract by Advantage Rent a Car to collect damages caused by a hail storm in April. First I returned the rental car in the same condition as the day I drove the car off the car rental company lot. Second I never received a phone call, letter, or email from Advantage stating their claim. It was a total shock to me when I received the letter from SMT that they are collecting on behave of Advantage Rent a Car. I received this letter on 7-7-08, more than 3 months has passed since the alleged damages to the car. I plan to dispute these charges. I am contacting my insurace company and legal counsel for my options. I would appleciate any kind of advise anybody might have.
