I received a letter from a salesman named Donavan Arney from Westside Chevrolet stating that since my bankruptcy had been discharged I could qualify for a new or used vehicle. Upon arriving and explaining why I had bad credit and why I filed bankruptcy, he said it would be very easy to get me financed. I am a hard working single father of 3 daughters.
My base salary is 66,500 per year, plus a 20% bonus, so my annual is in the upper 80's. My 16 yr old daughter had major heart surgery at the age of 2. I was hit with major medical bills that no avarege person could ever pay for and insurance would not cover her due to a label of "pre-existing health. She was born with VSD/ASD heart defect. Long story short, I was encouraged to file Chapter 13 bankruptcy.
I was told after paying off my debts over 4 years and getting it discharged, it would earn me a little respect and help me build my credit. I received Mr. Arney's letter in hopes I could finally finance a new car. I wanted the new 2008 Malibu. He proceede to try and sell me a used Malibu that was $6,000 higher than a brand new one. When I told him I wanted the new one, he then said there was nothing he could do for me.
After sitting in his dealership for over 3 hours listening to him tell me he could get me in a new car at a price above $25,000. The new car I wanted was only 20,000. He then proceeded to help other customers while I sat there with my tail betwen my legs. His false letter and the treatment I received was unacceptable.
