Super Scooters Springfield, MO, Extrememly Rude, Unprofessional, Won't give refund

On May 17, my husband and I decided to check out scooters. We went to Super Scooters on E. Sunshine, Springfield, MO. After conversing with Harley (sales rep) my husband decided to get a scooter on layaway. Harley didn't know how to put it on layway so he had
to call someone. Harley said we could put it on layaway with a $500 deposit and we would have as long as we needed to pay for it as long as we were making payments. We were told by Harley that the model we were intersted in was a 2007 CPI Oliver Sport, 2 stroke model, no
restricter plate and would get 45-50 mph without the plate. We decided to get it. Harley didn't know how to write it up, so he had to call someone else, the owner, Gary Voss, who was getting ready to go on vacation. Harley wrote the ticket, asked how we were going to pay,
we paid with our debit card and left.

When we got home, I started looking on the internet for info about this particular bike and everything I found stated that it was a 2006 model. We started to wonder about it and decided to get a refund. We went back to the store today, May 20 in an attempt to get our down payment refunded. My husband went in initially and told Harley that he wanted a refund. Harley said he didn't know how to do it and said he would have to call the other store to find out. Harley talked to someone at the other store and that person told Harley that someone from the other store was on the way and asked my husband to wait. So he did.

Harley said that there would be a 20% restocking fee (which we were never told about and is not reflected on our receipt) and that the owner was being charged a 3% fee because we used a debit card. Harley implied that we would be charged that fee. They knew we were using a debit card becuase Harley asked us if it was a debit or credit card. The other guy showed up and he didn't know how to give a refund either. The other guy tried
to call the owner, who was on vacation. My husband waited around for a while and Harley said the owner would be back on Thursday and that he couldn't do anything until he heard from the owner.

I was in the car and my husband said they couldn't do anything until Thursday. I told my husband to go in and have Harley sign something that said he came in but they didn't know how to issue a refund in case there
were some laws that would prohibt us from getting a refund within a certain timeframe. Harley said he wasn't going to sign or write anything until he talked to the owner. My husband came back out to the car and he told me what happened.

So I decided to go in and talk to Harley. Harley was rude. He said that he wouldn't sign anything. I told him I wanted it noted that we came in today so we can be sure that there is a record of us trying to get a refund but no one knows how to do it. Harley threatened to call the police since he claimed I was harassing him. I said I wasn't harassing him, I just wanted him to note that we were here. He called someone else and said that he was going to call the police. I told him to go ahead, but I could tell he was talking to the owner. Harley kept saying do you want to talk to her? Harley handed me
the phone and I asked who I was speaking with. He wouldn't answer. He said, What do you want? I told him that we wanted a refund since we discovered that the scooter was a 2006 model, according to the information I found and that we wanted a refund.

I again asked for his name and he said Richard. I could hear someone in the background talking and Richard said, Shut the f* up! I asked him if he was talking to me and he said "No, my wife won't shut up. I'm on f*ing vacation!" Richard said there is a note on the sales slip that says no cash refunds. I told him that we were sold a bike that is apparetnly a different year and we weren't happy about that and wanted a refund. Richard told me to go the attorney general, sue me. I've been to court before over this. I told him that I was suprised that he's still in business if he treats his customers this badly. He said I wasn't getting my money back and hung up.

We went back home and I called CPI in Texas at 972-580-8100 and talked to Paul, a manager. I told him what was going on and he asked for the VIN # off the title, which we don'thave since it's on layaway. I couldn't quite read it. He told me the VIN # is under a plate between the handlebars. I told him I didn't have access to it. He looked up Super Scooters sales and he said they bought 2 CPI Oliver Sports from them near the end of 2006 and he didn't have a record of any 2007's going to them.

These are the most rude, unprofessional people around. I can't believe they are still in business. I filed a complaint with the Missouri Attorney General office, and will file one with the Better Business Bureau and the bank. I would not recommend doing business with these people.
