I purchased a 2002 Ford Ranger Edge. I also bought an extended warranty. It was a base coverage warranty that includes all internal lubricated parts. I started to have trouble with the clutch and transmission. I live approximately 25 miles from the dealer where I bought the truck this past December. I could not drive the truck in this condition I called First Extended about my problem and they told me that a dealer had to diagnose the problem before they would be able to could tell if the repair would be covered. I did not have the funds to have my truck towed 25 miles to the dealer so I had a local mechanic look at the truck and give me his opinion of the problem. He said that it was the Clutch Slave Cylinder that needed to be replaced. After investigating the problem myself I found that the Clutch Slave Cylinder is mounted inside the Bellhouse on the transmission. I called First Extented and talked with Angela. She explained that with the package I purchased the only thing not covered is the Manual Clutch Assembly, she said that the Clutch Slave cylinder was not listed as part of the Manual Clutch Assembly. I called several parts stores and asked if I bought a manual clutch assembly for my truck is a slave cylinder included and they told me no. The salve cylinder is not part of the manual assembly. I had my truck towed to the dealer and after they diagnosed the problem as the slave cylinder they called First Extended and was told that they would not pay for this repair.
