I am paying on a car that we can't drive. My daughter was excited about getting her first car, she worked all summer to have enough money for a down payment on this car. She wasn't of age, so I had to sign for all of the financing.in August of she drove the car off the lot. A month later, the bank sent me a copy of a letter that was sent to Stanley requesting the title. As of today, they still don't have the title... They never will.
Stanley sold us a car with a lien against it. He borrowed $8851.14 from AFC to pay for this car that he bought from an auction. He never paid AFC the monies he owed them. They have the title. They won't release it until he pays them. This car was one of others he owed AFC money for. They got the cars off his lot, and auctioned them elsewhere, but I'm stuck with this one.
I did go to the Senetors office and they helped me to get in touch with the State Troopers who took him to court for the taxes he never paid against the money we gave him. Again, that doesn't help me... It only helped to get him to plead quilty to tax evasion. The taxes will be paid, but still not the loan on the car.
This is frustrating, one of the most frustrating things I've ever gone through.in order to get the car, I need to obtain a lawyer and start proceedings to sue him for the money we borrowed from the bank. Would be ok if I had money for a lawyer and court costs, but I just don't. If he filed bankruptcy, I'm still at a loss because how can you get money out of somebody who claims to not have any.
So, as it is... The car is sitting without a valid plate, no title, and I'm paying a montly payment to the bank and insurance on a car that we can't drive.
Sadly, I did go online to get information on the car via the VIN number, and the lein was never mentioned. There was nothing bad reported about the car. There might be now, but it would have been nice if the car facts were updated previous to us signing our names to the car and driving it off the lot.
I doubt the guy is still in business, but if he is... STAY AWAY! They are bums without a conscience and screwed myself and my 17 year old daughter.
Another kicker, I have to pull the car off the street I live on as it's illegal to have a unregistered car on the city street. I have to park it in a garage, one I don't have. I am now looking at pricing for a garage to store it. More money out of my pockets and still nothing to drive.
