BUICK, General Motors, Robideaux Motors Co., Alpine Motors Co.inc. 2008 Buick Enclave FUEL LEAK

We leased a new 2008 Buick Enclave in November. After arriving at home with our new investment we backed into our garge. After a few minutes we smelled raw gas that was soo strong we had to park the new car outside. We called the dealer the next morning and reported the problem of a serious gas leak. An appointment was made for the following Friday to change oil, clean and check for gas leak. The smell even entered the passenger compartment. We took the car to the dealer for the appointment and was greated by the service writer lady. She blew up as the request to check for a gas leak was not on her paper work. The car was taken in and we waited for the service to be done. We picked the car up and was told "excess fuel was washing down the cylender walls and an adjustment was made to resolve the raw gas smell". I beleve that to be a far streched answer.

We took the car home but still had to leave it parked outside due to raw gas smell. I called Buick in Ohio and I was given a Reference number so they (Buick) could help us resolve the problem. I requested to go to the local dealer as it was now Christmas and the weather was bad with several feet of snow.

I went to the local dealer who was not wanting to get involved with the problem as we did not lease from them. They did not want to look at it. I called Buick and they made the apointment for us as requesting a second look. They put the car on their computer and said" it could not have a leak or it would be hard to start and would show up on the computer test". We still had the strong gas smell. Now we could not even get Buick to return any of the voice messages we left. Finally in March after calling an attorney the dealer we got the car from decided they would try one more time. We took the car in and after 3 days we were informed our car had an injector leak and it was fixed.

I have written Buick in Ohio, mailed a copy to the owner of the dealer and to date have not had anyone follow up on the problem. The gas leak was not only a health issue, but was bad to the degree it was a fire hazard and explosive issue. It took 4 months with little concern from the dealers and next to none from Buick. The gas milage even improved by 3.7 miles to the gallon after the leak was fixed." Go figure "

Why is the American auto industry falling behind in consumer confidense???

Because of dealer attitudes and The GM Buick corporations lack of care for the cousumes. REmindes me of the Ford Pinto / Firestone Tire ordeal.
