A month after returning my Alamo rental car I was called and informed that a damage claim was on my rental accountant for scratches and a dent on the bumper of the car I had rented through Alamo. I was told that I now owed $600.
I explained that I had not damaged the car and had double checked it when I parked it and returned the keys and it was in perfect condition. The girl that checked me in had gone out and attended to the car while I was in the office. When she returned, she gave no mention of any damage. I was told that she does not check for damage, just gasoline level and that the car was listed as damaged while under my rental contract.
I was asked if I declined to pay the damages and I said yes and that I thought that I was being scammed.
I was told that a manager would be considering my statements during this call and would be calling me within 7-10 days.
Since looking on the internet, I find that many people have this same complaint from this same company.
