We purchased a new 2004 Kia Rio. After about 40,000 we started having problems with the car shifting properly. It would get stuck in a gear and wouldnt shift to the next, The RPM's would rev up but that was it. The dealership first told us it would be a judgement call from the district manager because the code said it was a sylanoid shifter and the would have replace the whole transmission. The check engine light would come on and go off continuously. We took it in and they told us we had the wrong spark plugs in it??? They couldnt duplicate the code because of course the check engine light was off at the time. I told him what the code said and he said that wouldnt be covered under warranty anyway. We will NEVER purchase another Kia vehicle, they dont stand behind their products.
