01-05-08 Saturday - I made $1400 cash deposit on 2001 CADILLAC CATERA STOCK #063898Z. I was verbally promised cash back by Mr. Zak & mr. MICHEAL TAVARES if the car fails mechanics inspection since NO TEST DRIVING is allowed on the day of depositing cash as its an indoor facility with cars parked very close to each other back to back and they will tell you that you can only start the car engine but cannot move it and they will let you inspect and drive the car BY APPOINTMENT ONLY AFTER YOU MAKE CASH DEPOSIT to hold the car you are interested in.
01-07-08 Monday - On Day Of appointment i arrive at the given time 4pm for Inspection and the owner Mr. ZAK is standing outside the office and does not even let me and my friend into the office saying they are closed for the day, when infact i was asked to come for inspection at 4pm and was told their closing time is 5pm. Furthermore my friend & I were VERBALLY ABUSED THREATENED AND BULLIED INTO LEAVING WITHOUT INSPECTION or even seeing the car and was told to get another inspection appointment.
01-08-08 Tuesday - i read the fine print on my deposit slip that said "MAJOR MECHANICAL DEFECT" and by now i already knew this was a scam and the car is most likely junk but since i made a $1400 CASH deposit i had to try and inspect to get my cash back so i called them to reschedule and I RECORDED THE CONVERSATION ON MY CELL PHONE WITH MR. MICHEAL TAVARES -
In this conversation i complained about Mr. ZAK's behavior from the previous day and Mr. Micheal Tavares actually confirms in this conversation that if the mechanic finds some defect with the car my cash will be returned and the words "major mechanical defect" on my deposit slip is a MISPRINT.
Five minutes after this conversation Mr. Micheal Tavares calls back and informs me that the deposit is NON-REFUNDABLE REGARDLESS OF THE FINDINGS OF THE MECHANIC INSPECTION (i also recorded this conversation as proof). I LIVE IN WEST PALM BEACH AND I HAD ALREADY MADE TWO TRIPS TO POMPANO BEACH IN VAIN TO TRY AND INSPECT THE CAR AND I KNEW THEY HAD NO INTENTION TO ALLOW A FAIR INSPECTION NOR RETURN MY DEPOSITSo i decided to not waste more time and gas trying to resolve the matter with these people directly and instead pursued the matter with BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU but received no response from them so far.
