Precision Transmission
Ripoff, dishonest, overcharge customers, damaged transmission

I took my car to precision transmission becuase my 1989 buick park avenue's transmission was slipping. I was able to drive back and forth to work but wanted someone to look at it. I took my car to precision after talking to the service representative. He told me they check your fluid for free so I took my car there. He then told me the next day that my transmission had metal shavings and would need to be torn down to inspect the damage. He told me it would cost $485 which was extremely high for the cost of an inspection. Well after the inspection precision gave me a price of a rebuild for $1787. I was unsatisfied with this and asked could they give me a better price. After talking with the service rep and also the owner, who told me he could not lower the price below $1687 because of overhead cost. I proceeded to call other shops in the area and they told me the max price was $1200. I also called about inspection prices which was no more than $250 to remove, inspect, and reinstall a transmission. After talking with numerous shops they also all warned against sending my car to precision because they were known for over charging customers.

Well after a week of trying to decide I found a mechanic who said he would rebuild my transmission for $900. I then called and asked the service manager to rebuild the transmission for $1400. The $900 to rebuild and the $500 to inspect. He said NO. I said put my transmission back in. The conversation took place on 11/22/06 at about 10:00 am. I went to precision on 11/28/06 to find my car still sitting outside. I encountered Wayne Mcgee the owner. He asked who I was, and i told him i was the owner of the vehicle. I then asked him who he was in which he told me he was the owner. I asked him why he did not have my transmission back in and he said because, " I have not told them to until you had come in and pay the money for the inspection. "I told him I would not pay for the inspection until my transmission was back in the car and I wanted an inspection report of what was wrong and what needed to be repaired. He said fine your car will be done tomorrow. On 11/04/06 I asked was my car done and they said yes it was done on 11/29/06 but no one from precision called me to inform me the work was complete and i could pick up my car.

After getting to precision on 11/05/06 at 4:50 pm the secretary said we dont accept checks on inspections it must be cash or money order. I then had to drive to an atm to get the cash which was never told to me until that day. I paid for the inspection and drove off in my car. The car was worse then when I brought it to them, becuase now the car would not shift out of first gear. I had to take my car immediately to another transmission shop who rebuilt my transmission for $900. He said precision did damage some parts which made my car where it would not shift out of first. This is no way to do business and would advise anyone not to take there car to precision.
