Tire Works
Horrible customer service, horrible company

I am sending this email as a disgruntled customer. I took my car in due to the check engine light being on and my need to have my car smogged and reregistered with the state. When I first went in, Tireworks
(Dalin) suggested that we have the brakes redone, and that the reason for check engine light was code p0161 bank 2 (faulty o2 sensor) and p0141 (EGR sensor). The sensor was replaced and I was charged 389.99 for that work. After I picked up the vehicle, the check engine light went on again. I knew that Tireworks had a warranty so I went back to see what had gone wrong. Dalin at that time reinspected the car and the same codes came popped again, p0161 bank 2 and p0141. Dalin at that time told me that I had to have all 4 sensors replaced to properly fix the car and gave me an estimate of 469.93. I did not feel like spending another 470 on this made a lot of sense. I told Dalin that I could not afford this at this time and I seemed a bit confused by his diagnosis. He suggested I get a second opinion.

I took my vehicle to an approved technician since my options at this point were twofold: 1. Have you do the work at an additional 469.93 (which through my research seemed to be an incorrect diagnosis) or 2. Spend money on somebody else doing the correct work and at the very least, if the check engine light was still not fixed, I could at least get a credit toward the exemption from a smog check by getting the work done at a dmv approved location. The new technician told me that 2 codes were coming up. The same codes that are on your initial notes, that popped up the 2nd time I took the vehicle in, and that I got read at Autozone. He gave me an estimate of 429.66 to do the work correctly. He did not change all 4 sensors, only the correct sensor, and the egr sensor (which tireworks never even attempted to change even though the code came up initially). Obviously, the light was no longer on, my car passed smog and i was able to register my vehicle.

Tireworks incorrectly diagnosed my car, changed the wrong 02 sensor, never attempted to change the egr sensor, then suggested to change all four sensors as a resolution which still would not have solved the problem since the egr sensor would still have been causing the engine light to be on. So after spending an 389.99 to have the wrong sensor replaced, i would have had to spend another 469.93 to replace the remaining 3 and after that probably another 200-400 to replace the egr sensor. So after over 1000 in incorrectly diagnosed and unnecessary repairs, tireworks would have gotten that light to come off.

I have been going to tireworks on tropicana since we moved here, everybody has always been very helpful and we have never had any complaints with the work done. And then when I do have an issue I get completely blown off. I called Dalin a few times and he mentioned that he would call corporate and return my call by the evening, that happened a few times with no return call ever. And when I finally decided to contact corporate myself, the same situation, I would be told that I would receive a call later that evening and no call ever. It took me over two months to contact the store, contact corporate and even visit the corporate office myself. After a final call to corporate and having Donna at corporate pass me on to another woman who hung up on me because she did not know how to answer question, I decided something had to be done. So I will voice myself on usacomplaints.com and as many other internet sites I can to warn other consumers to use somebody else. Obviously Tire Works has lost my business as a permanent customer they once had, if I can stop another few people from going to Tire Works, the $300 dollars they could have refunded or credited back will hopefully turn into a few thousand dollar loss for them.
