Gateway Chevrolet-Oldsmobile
Bait and Switch

My mother has a 2004 pontiac from gateway chevrolet-oldsmobile she recieved a letter from them stating they could get her in a new car with a lower payment and $3500 towards this new car. She called first and spoke to "Bob" who said of course we can help you. Of course she bugged me to go.

Once there she asked to speak to Bob. Jonathan said I will help you don't worry about Bob we spoke with him. After sitting there with two children for along time. We were told they could not get her in a cheaper car but possibly something close to what she is already paying. With her trade in the old 2004 pontiac sunfire the price of the new car would go up $100. We came in for a lower payment we were about to go until they went and got a car - Red Chevy Cobalt. My mother test drove it and loved it. It was all up to me would I co-sign for her. I did not want to. They said call your 2004 financing company and say you don't want to pay it anymore but wait until we tell you this deal went through. Jonathan said it will look bad on your credit but it will go away. I co-signed.

This was friday Oct. 20 and on Monday Oct 22 my mom was feeling guilty. We did not do what we went there to do: She had a higher payment and she still had the 2004 sunfire and my credit was going to get messed up. She tried to take it back, they told her no. She tried to take it back Wed. Oct. 24 they told her no. Then ten days from the sale later when I have time I leave the car. Jonathan and I argued over the time limit we had to change our minds. The car was left.

The BBB was emailed. The BBB settled this situation in a week. Mr. Thomas Okimoto responded to the BBB saying this is not custom cancelling contracts but we will consider this contract "null and void". This was good news we my mother and myself learned a valuable lesson.

Around January 15 Citifinancial got in contact with me from my job number. The guys name is Jim. He was very nice I explained to him that this was an oversight. We no longer had the car. I gave him the number and name (Mr. Thomas Okimoto) to contact. Jim called me back some days later and said Mr. Thomas Okimoto said no the contract is still enforced.

I got in contact with the BBB again because Mr. Okimoto lied to them and us. Well this time to no avail, the BBB said they could not help us any further. Now we are stuck with to cars. Since I am the co-signer these financial companies will eventually come after me. I am a 33 year old single parent female, I have no outstanding bills. Because of my mother and Gateway Chevorlet-Oldsmobile everything for my 12 year old daughter and I will be changed.

I would like for Gateway Chevrolet-Oldsmobile to really take the car back (although the car was left there and we still don't have it) and give Citifinancial there money. As for my mother keep your old car and pay for it and eventually my name would be off of her bills. Cosigning is a rip off!!!
