Complaint / Review
Lake Country Chevrolet
Rip-offs/Liars/Thefts

On Tuesday evening on Jan. 9- I Stopped in to look at Chev. Tahoe on front lot of dealership. Was approached by salesman. (Zack Wilbanks) I drove the vehicle. Upon return we talked about a trade and purchase price. Then the manager (Mike Henry) and I talked about trade and price. I signed the deal and left dealership. I didn't take the new vehicle because I was told that the financing would be done the next day. That is when I could get the vehicle. I called all day the next day and was put off. Then on Thursday Jan. 11 I was told the deal was done and to come and get my new vehicle. I drove 45 minutes to the car lot. Upon arrival I was told to sit and it would be "a minute". 1 1/2 hrs later I was told to come into the office of the business manager. (Jason) We signed the papers and I was told that a courier would be taking them to Norman, OK. So that my mother could sign them as well. (She was a signer too) I left the dealership with my new vehicle and left my trade in with them. On Jan. 31st I called to get a lein release from GMAC on my traded vehicle. (this is 2 weeks later) I was told that it had not been paid off yet. I called the dealership and spoke with Jason in the business office. He informed me that the deal had not been done yet. The original finance co. Was concerned because my mother and I had different addresses. But not to worry because he had already got the deal done at another finance co. He asked if I would come in to sign a new contract. So on Jan. 31 the second contract was signed. This time they overnighted the contract to my mom in Norman. I was concerned about the payment being about due on my traded veh. It had been 3 weeks since the trade & Jason informed my not to worry because it would be paid off in a couple of days. On Feb. 10th, my mother called to tell me that GMAC had called and the veh, still was not paid off. It had now been 4 weeks since I traded it off to them. So, again I called Jason. He informed me that the 2nd finance co. Had too questioned the address issue. I was suprised by this issue. I had never heard of this before and we have almost excellent credit. Jason had called my mother in Norman and asked if she would just lie and say that I lived there. My mother said no, she would not lie. Jason called me and asked me to talk to my mother about it. I refused. He said if I had anything with my mothers address on it, that it would be helpful. I told him that I had purchased a new heat and air unit for them last fall and that the address was theirs on the invoice. He asked me to e-mail it to him. So, I did. I followed up with a phone call to make sure he recieved it. He said yes and that everything would be ok now. He had also called the finance manager at the co. And gotten the address verification waived so that it would not be a problem. So, again on Monday, Feb. 12th, I called again to make sure everything was fine. He told me that it was and that GMAC would be paid off in, no more that 2 days. He said that they just wire the payoff and it would be fast. I again voiced my concern because the payment was going to be over 30 days late on the 15th of the month. Then on Feb. 15, I called GMAC to make sure that the veh. Had been paid off. They said NO! I and my mother now have the very 1st payment over 30 days late on our credit. I called Jason and told him that I was tired of his lies and that I would be up there to get my veh. And to give them back the Tahoe (that I had been driving now for 5 weeks!) He very rudely told me come on and he would be waiting. I arrived at the dealership. I was yelled at in the showroom and called a liar by Jason. I told him that I was not going to discuss it with him and wanted to see the manager. After several request a man told me to come into his office. I told him my story and he got another finance guy to come and help me. He did call Jason into the office. Jason lied and told me he had called me and he did not. The 2nd contract had too been denied because of the address issue. So at this point we just said forget it. But, They told me that my mother just said to put the vehicle in her name to not cause anymore address issues. Enough was enough. So, on Feb. 15th the 3rd contract was signed and overnighted to my mother. She recieved it on the 17th and returned it on the 19th (Monday). I called them to make sure it was a done deal and they told me yes. GMAC would be paid off in 2 days. On Feb. 22nd I called and it was not paid off yet. I called and told them that I had enough. This was it and I wanted my pick up back that I had traded in. I was done!!! I drove there to pick up my vehicle and it had been sold! 1 week before! GMAC is still not paid off. After much embarassment by being yelled at by the used car manager for selling my vehicle, I saw on the computer screen the name of the person who had bought my traded in vehicle. I called the wholesaler that bought my pick up and told him that it was sold to him by mistake and I wanted it back. I also asked him how he could buy it when the title (with a lein) is still in my name and GMAC is not paid off yet. He said that they do it all of the time. But he had already sold my vehicle to a wholesaler out of Kansas City and it had been gone for 4 days. There was nothing he could do. My truck had been sold 2 times and GMAC was not paid off yet & I had done this deal 6 weeks prior! Legally I still owned the veh. Or I was still financialy responsible for it. For the record GMAC was paid off Feb. 27th 2007.6 1/2 weeks after I traded it in. Now, I was angry about the way I was lied to and treated as a customer. I called the General Motors Division in Detroit, MI. To file a complaint on business practices of a Chevrolet dealer. They where very concerned as well. They called the dealer too. But it was then that I found out the the steering column had been replaced 4 times in my 2003 Tahoe. Remember the salesman told me the CarFax had come back clean. (Yea stupid me I believed them). I was actually grateful I had been made to buy the extended warranty.By the way, Jason, (the business manager) told me that the finance company was making me buy the extended warranty. That if I didn't I would get a higher interest rate. But my payment were only going to be $20.00 different so why not?! Finance companies do that now because most of the repos are because cars break down and people can't fix them. So, the finance co.'s make you get extended warranties now. (Yeh right) But, that I could cancel next month and get a full refund. But just do it now and get the lower interest rate. Well, stupid me again, I fell for it. But grateful now, because I have to have the total steering column and drive train replaced. Come to find out the Tahoe was originally owned by a car salesman. Yep, you guessed it he had worked there! The Tahoe was sold by that dealer in 2003 to the same guy. They knew that the Tahoe was junk! So, to the shop it goes. Guess I won't be getting the $2000.00 back for the extended warranty. But, I'll have to wait on that too. I called on March 27 to find out what is covered and if I get a rental while my Tahoe is in the shop. The contract for extended warranty is no good! The company has no: contract number, name or VIN. For me! I have no extended warranty as of yet. Now I have to call the dealer again and make them do there work. Which in all fairness they did send the warranty information in and it is now active. But honestly, I think I will just go trade it in and let it be someone elses problem. I want my $2000.00 back for the extended warranty policy!
