Amara Auto Plaza
My car was repossessed because amara didn't pay lienholder!

On Oct. 6, I purchased a 2003 Mazda 6 from Amara Auto Plaza. I already had pre-approved financing through my credit union at 6.75%, but Robert Cosentino, finance mgr, assured me that he could get me a lower rate of 6.25% if I went through Weber Credit Union. I accepted and filled out the paperwork. Since that time, I have been given a constant runaround as to why I can't get my license plates. He has provided me with temporary tags on 3 occasions, trying to tell me that there is a problem getting the title from the previous lienholder. This past Friday, as I came home for lunch, I saw a towtruck in my driveway, hooking up to take the Mazda away. I spoke to the guy who was repossessing the vehicle and he told me that since Amara had never paid off Wachovia Bank, the previous lienholder, that Wachovia was repossessing the vehicle. I figured that something like this had occurred, so I didn't fight him on it. He had me talk to the collections supervisor at Wachovia who said that the check that Amara had given to pay off the lien the day before had bounced and so they were taking the car. She was very sympathetic and said that apparently there were other similar cases to mine. At the same time I was speaking to her, I had called Robert at Amara. He said he was on hold with Wachovia even as I was speaking to the collections supervisor and kept trying to say that it was all a mixup. At this point, after several months of him telling me one thing and then never fulfilling what he said he would do, I didn't (and don't) believe a word he says. I called Weber Credit Union and they said that even though the car was repossessed, I was still liable for the loan. They said they could defer it for a month, but that interest would continue to accrue (a lot of good that does). They advised me to get an attorney and referred me to the Motor Vehicle Enforcement with DMV. Amara said they would loan me a vehicle "until this gets resolved", but at this point I don't trust that any car that they give me isn't stolen or something! I have been cited by Ogden City for not having proper registration (because one of the temporary plates had expired) and I am now liable for a $13K loan with absolutely nothing to show for it!!! Avoid these people at all costs! And if you have had a similar experience with Amara, please, let's try to get together and file some sort of lawsuit against them!
