My car was originally deemed a total loss from water damage. I later did some investigating and found out I had the keeper policy which entitled me to a new car in the event of a total loss (Country Insurance never told me I had this, I discovered this myself). I made them aware of the keeper policy at which point I was told they would get back to me.
The next message on my voice mail stated that the car was no longer a total loss and that I am now responsible for $5,000 towards repair of the engine! It seems I payer higher premiums for this special policy (which is supposed to provide added benefit) so that I actually pay more if my car is totalled. I intend to fight this unfair and misleading policy.
