I had a motorcycle accident on December 23rd. After several months go by, the insurance finally settles on the bike loan and I owe about $400 on the bike... Not a big deal, but I wanted the whole ordeal done and over with. So I go to Bill Heard in March of which is right down the street from my house, I walk in and start talking to the sales guy. I need a car, a cheap car, a lower end, manual transmission, a/c equipped car. And I wanted a new one, not a used one. So since the cavalier is being replaced by the cobalt, I figured this would be a fine and dandy little humdinger to get me around. Well my credit score with $400 left on a $14,600 motorcycle loan is 695 (Exp, TransUn, Equi). They tell me my credit score is 630, give me some excuse about soft/hard credit hits. Found out later this is al bullshit. Granted, I am only 20, so thats pretty good if you ask anyone dealing in sales of automobiles for my age. First thing that happens we look at the car - 07 Chevy Cobalt. I sign the papers, go for a test drive... I like it, its got plenty of getup and its good enough to get me around. So we walk in and I start working the deal. They ask what payments do I want, I say right around $250. I told them anything above that I can go get a brand new harley for the same payment. So they start working the numbers, I have a $1200 downpayment, plus a $1500 from the dealership advertisement. So $2700 on a $15,000 car... I have them knock off a bunch of stuff with the sales manager Scott right there working with me and just give me a baseline price, comes out to be 14,600 /- a couple jeffersons. They say ok, we're going to have to push the payment up if theres no cosigner to about $275 - ok good good I like that number its not too far off the richter but I can handle it... So I drive away with the car that night, insurance and all ready to go.
They call me a week later saying I need to come by to sign some paperwork. They then tell me that they couldn't get me financed for the rate and payment they promised, and unless I had another $3,000 for a downpayment, the rate and payment would go up. I said I need this car now, I have responsibilities I must upkeep. So they say fine. Also I see on the finance paper these "touch downs" referred to by another salesman, there are 6 or 7 on the paper of different banks and whatnot. So I get my first payment in the mail...$364 @ 22.25% interest. The first words out of my mouth were HOLY $hit!!! I later talked to a family friend who retired from 20 years in toyota sales, he told me that I got ripped offffff big time... I don't know but you can guarantee I won't ever buy from Bill Heard again, people that lie about what they can do and then screw over someone when they can't live up to it deserve to have their mouth's sewn shut. Harley dealerships were gold on my first two motorcycles, Bill Heard set the bottom standard for me. Thanks for the car and the payments:-D (ugly gesture follows)
