I rented a car from Thrifty @ Myrtle Beach. After I had gone about 25 miles, my daughter looked in the back seat and yelled, "There are bugs all in this car". My other daughter, who was sleeping in the back seat, sat up. She had been bitten by these bugs all over. We pulled over and put her in the car with her dad (defeating the purpose for renting the car). We continued home over the next 4 hours, being bitten by these bugs the entire trip. When I turned the car in at the Greenville Airport, I reported that the car was infested with some kind of bugs and that we had to put my daughter in another car as a result.
Two weeks later, I got a call from the Subrogation Management about paying for a broken windshield!!! They said it had a starburst in it. I insisted to them that I would have noticed if something hit and broke a windshield while I was driving. I had tried numerous times to talk with someone at Thrifty about the bugs. We still had marks 2 weeks later, and I just wanted to know if they could tell me if they were ants, spiders, etc. So I would know how to treat them (the daughter that was in the back seat got sick and started vomiting). No one would return my call. I got the run around when I did reach a person.
I demanded to see the inspection sheet of the car from Myrtle Beach, the name of the inspector, and very clear pictures of the broken windshield. After several more weeks, I received a letter from the Subrogation Management Team that said that the allegations from Thrifty were made in error and that the case was now considered closed.
