While traveling recently, we had an occasion to file a claim to keep us on the road. The dealership where the car was taken got authorization that morning (Oct. 10) for repair. At pick up time, the dealer informed us that Car Warranties Direct had told them "they were negotiating for funds" and could not pay the claim.
Needless to say, we are midway on a 2000 mile trip, so we paid it. Upon returning home, we have tried to contact them numerous times to no avail. I recently sent a "return receipt requested" letter, and I am still waiting. I also sent same to Capital Assurance of Charleston, S.C., which supposedly insures this company against default. To date, I have heard nothing.
We paid them $2099 or so for an extended six year warranty. We have only had two small claims the first two years, one for about $134 and this one for $337.32, of which they said they would pay $223.50, and then paid nothing. We have four years left on this contract.
What an expensive rip off this has turned out to be! We intend to follow up any avenue within reason to obtain a refund.
