Route 23 Honda in Pompton Plains, New Jersey is a RIPOFF! At the end of my lease I went to Route 23 Honda to buy out the leased vehicle and finance it. I was told I had to pay an "Administration Fee" of $495.00 plus a "Documentary Fee" of $188.00 (note a doc fee was already paid on the vehicle when we leased it. Also, the "Doc Fee" already had an Administrative fee of $40.00 built into the $188.00). PLUS Tax and Motor Vehicle charges.
I am a Sales Manager for a Lincoln Mercury Dealership and have been in the car business for 29 years. I never heard of charging someone $495.00 administration fee to purchase their own leased vehicle. The dealership even knew I was in the car business and still tried to rip me off!
It should be also noted that when we originally leased the vehicle 3 years ago I was doubled charged for an aftersell product we purchased. The finance manager tried to tell me, "sometimes the computer double charges" by mistake. This is BS because I can run the finance dept at a car dealership and the computer is not capable of such things. HIS PROBLEM WAS I READ THE CONTRACT AND CAUGHT HIM TRYING TO CHEAT US!
