I too was told that I needed to have my calipers rebuilt on my 2003 Honda Civic. It's only four years old! AFTER I approved the work, I called the two Honda dealership service departments in town I've taken my car into in the past. I asked them if it was possible that I would need the calipers rebuilt on a four-year old vehicle. They both said there was NO WAY the vehicle would have needed the calipers rebuilt.
My $99 brake job turned into $325. $325! For brakes! I called and talked to the manager of the shop I took it to. He gave me this long spiel about how "brakes were all he did" and "in all his years experience he know more than most about brakes." Bla, bla, bla. I told them I was dissatisfied. He called a couple of hours later to tell me that he had spoked with someone at their regional office and they would be sending me a reibursement check for $39.
This was for part of the service I'd said I had a coupon for at home upon checkout. I'd told them that if I'd been told when I approved the work that they were doing that particular service, I would have brought the coupon to have it done free. At the time, they said they couldn't honor the coupon. After I complained they said they'd send me a check. This was about three months ago.
To this day, I haven't received ANYTHING from them. AND my brakes squeel more than they did before I took my car in! Need I say more?
