I have recently purchased a truck from West Valley Auto Plaza, July 13th. Five days later something malfunctioned that prevented the truck from being drivable.
I am a Commercial Truck Driver and I was over the road at the time. When my wife called me and told me what was wrong, I immediatly called the dealership.
They told me that they could not do anything at the time, but if it was a transmission problem the warranty would cover it.
I asked them if they would tow the vehicle in, they responded that they would not.
Since we gave them all our cash we had saved for the down payment we had no money to have it towed. We found a way to drive it to the dealership.
When I purchased the vehicle I made a this very clear to the salesmen and the finance guy; I told them I did not want to take posession of a vehicle until I was financed completely.
What happened when I called the dealership just about pissed me off worse than anything I have ever been through before. When I asked what was going on with the truck they wanted to blame our driving. Then they said, well... We are having some problems getting you financed. I said, What? I was told I was already financed. Then they said "you are, but we need some more info to finalize the loan." I was so irritated that they did not have a loan for me yet.
They then said that they would have to get the financing finalized before they start looking at the truck. I asked my salesman, "so the way it looks to us is that you want to finalize the loan so you can stick me with a broken truck. He said no i wouldn't do that. Well thats what they tried to do. The bank called me to verify some things almost three weeks after we took posesion of the truck.
I called the dealership that afternoon and I asked what was going on with the truck. My sales man started off by saying there's a problem... Because you drove the truck here... I cut him off because I knew right where this converstation was going. I told him they wouldn't tow it and it drove fine under 35 when we brought it in. He said he would call me back. It took me about two minutes to boil over.
I called back and asked for a manager. I got a different salesman. I went off about all the BS I have been dealing with for the three weeks prior. I told him that because they "couldn't do anything until I was financed" I was screwed without a car for my wife to take kids anywhere and get to work. He said he would call back. It started out as the warranty will not cover the problem and they can't help me. After another week and more profanities than I would like to admit to, they started giving in and offered a rental car, that I have yet to see, now they are offering to pay part of the repair at the dealership. They are saying they found a way around the warranty to have the repairs covered.
Here I am, three weeks later, stuck with a 600.00m payment and they still have the truck.
Their motto... We wont jerk you around. The biggest crock, I have never been jerked around more in my life.
