Thames Autoplex
Deceptive company false promises victimized many consumers

This car company is one in only several in Vicksburg. When I decided to look at a new vehicle, I went to almost all of the car lots in town after prices, interest rates, and service. I also had access to a discount with another dealer because of my employment. Even with the discount, Thames Autoplex beat the price, interest, and service of economy sedans. I was content with the agreement and gave myself a pat on the back for my hard work. That pat on the back was all too soon.
After the vehicle was picked out, I payed a substantial down payment and signed a contract for a simple 2001 Mitsubishi Mirage. Nothing luxurious, but most affordable. The contract stated a 5 year term with 14.99 interest. It also included the reg. Warranty, with more service options. I had expected to get a copy upon signing, but only recieved a copy of the delivery aggreement. The salesman informed me it was Mitsubishi Credit of America's policy that that a copy of the agreement be mailed along with the second key in 3-4 days. I thought, no problem.

In 10 days I did not recieve a copy, and had no way of getting the tag for the vehicle, which is required in 10 days. Then the run around began. Three weeks after the purchase, I went to the dealership and informed the salesman I would not be leaving until I recieved my copies. The doors had only opened but a few minutes earlier, and at 3pm I was still bugging whoever passed by. At 3:30, I was given a copy of an agreement I had never signed, but alas, that was my signature at the bottom.

The contract now stated 6 years, 15.99 interest, and no special warranty stuff. I also was given two vouchers for a free oil change for having to now pay a late fee to the state for my tag. When I asked to speak to the manager for the seventh time, he was now available and the salesperson was happy to introduce me. The mnanager asked me to step outside with him, and I began explaining the problems. Then I was taken by surprise when he informed me the changes would be saving me money because the notes were lower.

I replied that of course they were, a year was added. He began yelling at me, asking me if I took math in school, and not to undermine his abilities. I left, not sure of what to do. I decided there wasn't much I could do, because I did not have a copy to prove what I initially signed. I accepted my loss after trying to resolve through Mitsubishi and the their credit company. The lesson: never sign anything unless you get the copy on the spot. Especially with Mitsubishi and Thames Autoplex.
