We rented a 24' Ryder truck online to move to SC. When we reserved online we chose the tow dolly and it said to ask to local dealer about sizes. When it came in and we went to pick it up we asked if we needed to do anything special to tow our truck and they told us to unhook the battery and put it in neutral.
This would have worked for towing under 50 miles, HOWEVER they didn't mention online or again at the dealer that the drive shaft needed to be unhooked or we needed a car carrier. Due to the fact that they don't care we had to spend $1,350 on a new transmission the first week down here.
We contacted Ryder and they said it's listed on the wheel wells, and that they called the dealer he said he didn't say that. When we told him we had witnesses they told us they'd be biased. We just want them to post it online or at least have their dealers be honest, because when we called to have the vehicle fixed they told us we were the 2nd ones this week, 3rd this month to call about moving and towing a vehicle that ruined the transmission.
