Pitfall! Waste your time and money here!

Let me begin by saying I will take responsibility for my own ignorance in letting them have advantage of me not once but twice.

Back in 2000 I had recently wed and my wife and I lived just down the road from Planet and drove by the dealership daily. We were not particularly looking to purchase at the time but stopped in due to a nice vehicle seen at the front of the lot. The staff were friendly and we revealed that we were first time buyers (at a dealership) and were wanting to drive the 1995 red two door Tahoe. This vehicle had all the bells and whistles.

Well turns out the truck had been the managers (at the time) personal vehicle. It had over 100,000 miles on it and being young and naive we took the vehicle for a price well over blue book. (Our fault).
I had driven the truck to and from work for 1 week without problem.

At about the end of that week I heard a whining sound and some grinding noise from under the vehicle. (Oh, let me not forget to mention that I purchased the extended warranty due to the high mileage.)

I took the vehicle back to Planet in which they advised me that they would look it over and phone me. A week or so went by without contact so I phoned and was advised that it was still in the shop. After approximately another week my wife and I drove by the lot only to see that my truck was sitting at the back of a fence gathering dust. I phoned them again that next Monday morning and was told that they could not fix the vehicle due to the damages done.

I went over to Planet and had a discussion with the guy whom sold me the vehicle. I was told that the transmission was shot and the gears in the rearend were grinding. I was even nice about it at first and told them it was OK, that I had purchased the extended warranty, to go ahead and fix the truck, man, I loved that truck.

Anyhow, the anger came when they advised me that the warranty would not cover the damages because I must have done it. I was enfuriated as was my wife. After some verbal debate, my wife and I left Planet (with the truck) and drove it to nearby Terrell Marxen Chevrolet (excellent service, customer friendly folks here). After telling them of our woes with Planet and that the vehicle was under warranty, they fixed the truck and billed Planet! Over $2500.00 worth of transmission and rearend work. I swore to never do business there again.

Shame on me, Planet opened a Jeep dealership in the vicinity. My wife loves Jeeps. Needless to say, we thought if we purchased a NEW one, we would not have the problems (with the vehicle or the dealership). Were we ever wrong on both counts. We traded in an 2004 Wrangler for an 2007 lifted one. We drove the Jeep for 600 miles (only miles on odometer) when a dash light came on (supposed to mean stability trac activated) while driving down the freeway. Now, when this light comes on, the vehicles engine "cuts out" and it feels as if it is going to stall.

We phoned the dealership, towtruck was sent-we were saved. The Jeep sat in the shop for about 2 weeks total and they had no clue what was wrong with it. They even advised me that they may have to put a new engine in. I told them if they wanted to do that, they could keep it and give us another one (because it would no longer be new). They told me this could not be done due to the car was already financed. I requested they just return our trade in to us (which was in great condition and was on the lot for sale as we spoke) and take back the broke one. They told us the only thing they could due is give us a new one and we would have to trade in the new (broke) one.

Not knowing what else to do, thats just what we did and got hammered because of the upside down-ness of the the broke Jeep they sold us!

All I can say is SAVE YOURSELVES! Please dont buy from Planet Nissan/Jeep in Flagstaff, Arizona. We learned our lesson (the hard way-twice) from these scammers.
