On May 14, we had a problem with our 99 VW jetta. We took it to several places to be repair. The problem was a ignition Coil. They order a part from NAPA which was an after market part. Tyhis part seems not to work in the car and they remove it sayng it was the coil that was not an orginal part.
We took it to pep Boys and they also said it was the coil. The also put the NAPA part in and it still did not work. After severak days, We told them that we would pay extra for the VW parts. The did not want to put them in and told us that if the parts did not work, take them out and return them and they would refund our $963.00.
When we went to pick the car up it would not start even though it was driven into Pep Boys. We had to tow it to another shop and have it repaired, same problem. Pep Boys did not know how to fix the problem and they are saying that they could have fixed the car but they told us to take it some where else and bring the parts back whcih we did. After several days of calling the 800 number I have not recieved one return call. They said that a claim was submitted but I have no claim number. We are considering taking them to court to get out money back as they did not repair the car and it cost me an additional $1300. To fix the problem. I am looking for advice as this is a nationwide problem with Pep boys. They take consumers lightly and need to be exposed for they unsound practices.
