Ripoff tricked and lied to us

I have a 2000 Toyota Corolla. I lost my job after 9/11. I immediately phone Household Automotive to expalin the situation to them to see if I could get my payments lower so that I could keep my car they refused to do so. I them told them to come get the car because I could not afford the payment. They were to high for me to pay given my present employment situation.

Household sent be some document for a program that they have where the customer sells the car out right and pay off the debt to the loan company. The following thing had to be done.

1. Take the car to CarMaxx this was their suggestion and they do business with them all the time.

2. Place an ad in the news paper for $10,700 and send a
copy of it to them (which was done by me).

3. They refuse the offer from Car Maxx it was $6,800. It took them five days to get back to me on this and them they refused.

4. I took the car to another dealership the offer was put on the table for $7,800. I provided this dealer with all the information he needed to close this deal. Once again Household refuded. It took them 1 week to contact me on this deal.

5. The person that was working on my account was not consitasnt with the buy out figures. First he told me $10,700 them he told me $9,000 then I was told they would be willing to take $7,800. They had just refuse to sell the car to the second dealer for this price. They gave me a 14 day dealine to sell my car in order to wipe the slate clean. Deadline date was August 1.

6. Once again I had a another buyer for the car she test drove the car, she had a mechanic check it out. She made an offer to purchase it at $8,000. I immedaitely called Household to let them know I had another buyer I left 4 urgent messages to Chis. He did'nt get back to me until 3 days later again I lost another buyer.

What type of program could this be if the company will not work with you after they set the wheels in motion. This is just a stall tactic. They never had any intention on allowing me to sell this car to wipe the slate clean with them.

Today they call me again to ask if I have come up with a buyer for the car after they have refuse 2 good offers and the 3rd offer they never even bother to answer. Now they going repossess the car I still will have to pay all fees that are left over after they sell it. This is total bull. Each time there is someone new that calls me. They ask the same questions they don't follow through.

These people are worst than any loan shark. I do not believe this program exist. I would like this to be reported to all media and comsumer protection agency, congress or anyone who will invest this type fraduant behavior with companys like this. Household is the worst. They do delay payment in order to charge late fees.

Please let me know what can be done about this. I now Congress is investigating fraduadant company. Household should be at the top for Senate hearings. The books really need to be investiated.
