Ripoff of a disabled person who used to be an employee of theirs

Took 76 Buick Electra to the place where my husband used to work, so they could put in a used engine. They had quoted a price over the phone of $900.00 to replace the bad engine with the used one we had bought. One week later they called and asked my husband how much he was willing to spend, and with the brain problem and short term memory loss my husband suffers he said anywhere from $1200. - $1400. Not remembering the $900.00 they had said the week before.

We bought the engine on May 7th and brought it to the shop they didn't get the car in to be worked on untill May 23rd, they said the person who did the work had other work to do before getting to my husbands car. We finally got the car back on June 14th, after they "worked the bugs out for a week" with a bill of $1407.00 which $960.00 of that was misc. Labor. We had the car for 2 1/2 weeks and things started to go wrong, as the oil light would flicker and the car wouldn't start it was overheating etc. Then the car died on the highway and we had to be towed home, on July 28th.

On July 29th we called the shop to see if they could have it towed in and they said the tow truck driver was on vacation and they would come to our house the next day. They never came or called and on Wednesday at around 4:30pm they called and said they would be by the house to look at the car the next day, and they never called or came. They did call on Friday which was 5 days after they said they would come and they came by in the afternoon. John H. Looked at the car and said the motor was bad and there was nothing they could do about that and we should sell the car as a repairable. I feel that if my husband wouldn't have been an ex employee of theirs with a now severe brain problem they would have treated the situation much differently.in fact because of the time it took to put the motor in the car, the warrenty on the motor was 30 days past by the time we had gotten the car back and if we would have gotten it back before the 30 days we could have at the very least gotten the money back for the motor which was $400.00.
