Ugly Duckling Car Sales
Ripoff

My daughter and I were looking into purchasing her a car. We wound up at Ugly Duckling car sales. What a mistake!!!

I was there to help my daughter and be a co-signer to help her build her credit back up. I could have gone to any dealer myself, but I was intent on helping her fix a bad situation even though I knew that the price would be a little high for what we were getting.

The salesmen that helped us was quite nice and seemed to be genuine in dealing with us. HE warned us to remember the oral words of his manager's claim that he wanted us to be a satisfied customer and would fix any problem that we had. The rubber seal around the windshield was up and there were minor problems. We called to make an appointment to have this fixed at their shop, HE NEVER CALLED BACK!!!

The entire process was a desperate attempt to sell this vehicle to my daughter, but they put me first on the contract. They increased our downpayment as there was an unusual circumstance in our financial ability to pay this loan. As I became anxious about what I was seeing my daughter became excited that she was about to get this car she so wanted. I was ready to walk, but they appeared right then with the contract and a congratulations to her.

We could not drive the vehicle off the premises to get it checked out - this worried me - once off the lot it was yours. I contacted Lemon Busters and they came to the home. There was about $600 in work that needed to be done. They had sold us a vehicle that was leaking oil and with long driving would start on fire. There were several other problems that he could see.

We took the vehicle to our mechanic and in the end it cost us $6000 on top of the 15,000 they were charging for the car. Now, a year later, the head gasket failed on her way to school and all the fluid leaked out and before she could get off the highway the entire engine was seized. The check engine light on this vehicle was always on.

SO, just about a year after purchasing the vehicle and still owing on the balance the car is useless without putting a new engine in, to the tune of $2000 - $4000. So all in all this used car is costing in excess of $23,000. I could have gotten a brand new vehicle and wish I had.

This company is not out to help anybody except its employee's, which I havn't seen anyone stay very long. Every time I go to make a payment there are new salesmen, never a familiar face.

I would never buy a car from these people again and will NEVER EVER recommend them to anyone, not even an enemy! I will be looking into the legal remedies I may have against this company. I encourage anyone looking for a car to stay away!!! There is no second chance here! Just a rip off.
