RE: Grievance Letter

Dear Mr Smith,

Last November I purchased a 1999 Maverick Class C from your Hatfied location. I paid for two fantastic fans, electric black and grey water sewer covers, and a bypass for the water heater to be installed. The camper was winterized and I was told it was gone over completely, re caulked etc. I drove it home to Shippensburg, PA which is about 150 miles SW from Hatfield.

Winter in our area lasts a bit longer than in your area, as we are west of you. The Maverick sat all winter, it was never taken out after I got home as it was winterized and it had started to get cold. The end of April, when the weather started to break I was able to get inside the rig. I noticed that it was leaking on the right side front bunk area. I contacted Greg because I was under the impression that it had been recaulked before I took possession of it. He claimed that it had and that it must have been the weather etc. And swore it had been gone over. I had it repaired at Keystone RV which is about 20 miles from me. They had to replace the caulking stips on both sides of the overhang and informed me that it did not look like any recaulking had occurred that would have prevented the problem.

Two weeks later the rain had stopped in our area and it was a bit warmer. I started to dewinterize it in order to prepare for it's first trip on Memorial Day. When I attached the water hose and started to fill the camper, the bypass hose that was put on the water heater started to leak.

I again called Greg who had your service manager call me. I expressed my concern and displeasure that the job was not done right when it was installed. I was given a run around stating it was 5 months since I bought it, it was out of warrenty etc, etc etc... What did I expect... How much should he invest after all it was a used unit. It became clear to me at that time that you are not interested in the average customer but ones who are able to purchase high end rigs. I was informed that others had their units de winterized earlier and camping season had begun.

I was told I could bring it back and have my extended warrenty cover 1/2 the cost. I said OK but he was not able to give me an appointment since he was booked for Memorial Day. I had my plumber fix the bypass so I could go out for Memorial Day. Your worker who installed it had stripped the threads on the adapter. It is in a very hard place to get to and my plumber needed another person to help him.

One of the reasons I choose to buy the camper at your establishment is the sense that Greg gave me that Media Camping Center is not like all the rest. It is family owned and very customer oriented. I am originally from Lansdale and have bought campers from Indian Valley, and was pleased with the service.

I am not very happy with how I was treated. I also have a hard time accepting that you would not fix free of charge
what you did not install correctly. I also do not believe the water tank was tested as your manager states. The reason being, if he had tested it he would have seen that it leaked. As soon as the water entered the tank you could see it running on the floor. If I would have known how insensitive and unjust your business was I would have never traveled the distance I did as there are numerous other camping centers that would have provider better customer service. Rest assured, in the
future, I will not be recommending Media Camping Center to anyone.

Thank you for taking the time to read my grievance.
