I went to Just brakes this morning to get the $99.88 4 wheel brake service. New pads and shoes plus machining of the rotors. Joe gives me the sales pitch and tells me they will inspect the system and give me a quote before work begins. He returns shortly asking me to come with him to speak with the tech named Dan.
When we get to Dan's bay, he tells me I need new rotors, Calipers rebuilt, fluid replaced, and a new spring in the back that he said broke when he was removing it. Back in the office, Joe tells me that the total cost would be 600 and something dollars. I was pissed and told him I had no intention of paying that kind of money because I didn't have it and only wanted the 99.88 special. Well how much money do you have? Joe says. I only have $200 I tell him.
He tells the tech I only have 200 and the tech tells him to charge me for just the caliper rebuild and the spring that needs replaced in the back. That cost me 211.87. I say ok and agree to the repairs. I don't know why I agreed to that. They were an exceptional sales team that pressured someone that knows little about breaks into a sale he could barely afford. Something they were very good at.
As I sat in the waiting room for 3 hours I noticed the same sales tactics being used on 4 other customers. They all needed calipers rebuilt too. After I saw that treatment with the first 2 customers I was leery. I wanted out so I went to see if he had started work yet. Too late, work was under way. I warned the next 2 customers that they were going to need their calipers rebuilt. I thought I was being funny but it was true and I was getting very upset.
I then ask Joe if everyone that came in needed rebuilt calipers. He had a smooth professional comeback prepared. I told him that I felt like an ass for coming in here and paying $200 and half a day for something I only meant to spend a hundred for and wasn't getting. I didn't get new pads because I couldn't afford them. All I could do was pay up and come home to write this report. Don't trust those people. They have slick double team sale tactics.
$104 for the rebuilt calipers.
$42 disk hardware?
$42 drum brake springs. (that they broke)
$39.95 for brake fluid
