On November 29, I bought a black 1999 Honda Crv-Lx (JHLRD1842XC008167) from Bastan Auto Center. A few weeks later I was experiencing problems with the vehicle. Once I would reach 60 mph the steering wheel would shake haphazardly, the tires would bounce, and I could hear a rattling noise and a knocking noise when I came upon a curve in the road or a steep hill.
I informed the dealership about the problems and received a $1600.00 estimate from a mechanic, who claimed that the sway bar and u-joint connected to the drive shaft were damaged by collision. The dealer refused to take responsibilty, claimed my mechanic, a licensed, trained professional didn't know what he was talking about and suggested various mechanics that wouldn't charge as much and insisted that my warranty would cover the repairs and I would have to pay a $100.00 deductible.
The warranty doesn't cover sway bars and would only approve $650.00 or a rebuilt u-joint that comes seperately. The mechanic suggested I get the whole drive shaft w/u-joint which is a dealer item $901.00 they do not come seperately. If I get the rebuilt part it may not match well with my drive shaft and/or it can cause problems later. And I'll be paying deductible after deductible to get more work done.
At the point-of-sale the dealer didn't mention that the car was damaged, needed any work done, or had been in any type of collision. This is a breach of contract. They are guilty of unfair trade practices, misrepresentation of history, failure to disclose salvage/rebuilt title, consumer fraud, putting my life and other innocent drivers and pedestrians in danger.
