Employee theft, dishonest management ripoff

On January 31, I made an appointment to have the front tires on my 2005 vehicle replaced. I dropped off the vehicle approximately 3:30, about two hours before closing. I paid up front and kept the remote to my car and told the manager to lock the keys in the car. I left while they did the repairs and went to a movie.

I received a phone call about one half hour later from the manager asking if I had moved the wheel lock from the trunk since he could not find it. I told him that I had the wheels rotated when I last had the oil changed and that I did not know where it is. He said he checked the console, glove box, and trunk but did not see it, but would continue to look for it. I did not receive another call, I assume they found it. When I went to pick up my car, the business was closed and my car was parked outside.

I used my remote to unlock it because the driver door was locked, which I checked. At first I could not find my keys, assuming they were in the center console. I then checked my glove box and realized my cd case was missing also. I checked my trunk for the keys and case, under the seats and anywhere I could think of. I eventually found the keys under the floor mat.

I wrote a note the management and left it in the drop box explaining that my cd case, which included upwards of 200 cds, was missing. I then went to the Manville police department to file a complaint only to learn the company was not in Manville, which it says on the receipt, but in Hillsborough. I called the police station and asked if I could fill out a report the following day. They said I could and the next day I did.

The manager called me the next day and apologized and even admitted he himself had seen the case when he was looking for the wheel lock, which they did not put back in the trunk, but left on my seat. He said he would ask his employees and call me back. I filed the police report and the police officer investigated to no avail.

I then contacted the main office, which told me the district manager would call me back. He called me back almost immediately but was very hard to talk to and, ever though he was aware of the situation, made it a point to tell me I would not get my property back because they are not responsible for theft, even though my car was not broken into. It was definetely employee theft and I urged everyone I know to never go to a STS Auto Center again.
