An aquaintenance of mine owned a 1995 Nissan Altima. Knowing that I work on cars from time to time, he calls me after he takes his car into this Tuffy center after his brake light is now on. He tells me they told him his brakes are completely "shot" and to the tune of about $ 600.00 they can repair it. I tell him to check his fluid level in the brake reservoir first. Huh, guess what? Thats all it was.
Now I realize that in some cases, worn pads and linings could be reflected by low brake fluid in the reservoir, but not in all cases. It was probably never "topped" after the previous brake job. Anyways, severel months later he decides to buy a new car. (apperently the Tuffy scam scared him in to it) He wants to know if i would be interested in his old car.
So i buy it, and guess what, 2 years later I'm still driving it and never did fix the brakes that were "shot", according to Tuffy.By the way, after i bought the car, i did inspect the brakes, and they were fine. Another Tuffy attempted scam.
