I purchased a used RV a couple months ago that was over priced and had major problems for its age. This RV was priced way too high to fool the public thinking they are getting a great deal when you offer half the offer price! Don't be fooled like me, do your homework, check the NADA price. I assumed since this was a large RV dealer and seemed to be honest, I fell for it. Priced at $29,900, I offered $18,000 and they took it.
After I drove it off the lot, it was mine and they had my money. The following day I took it out for a road test and the transmission fell apart after 15 miles of driving. The sales person discouraged me to test drive this RV, assuring me that it was road worthy. My fault for not insisting to test drive it.
When I brought it back (towed back) to them, they could only tell me too bad, you purchased it as is. Only getting 15 miles on it? Something stinks here! After many emails, phone calls and letters they did reimburse me $750 of the total cost of $2,600 for repairs. So, I over paid for the RV, had to pay for major repairs only days after my purchase. Also had to empty the black water tank which was full! Along with replacing temp and fuel gauge.
In addition, this RV was dangerous to drive. I later found a fuel leak that had to be repaired immediately and replace glow plug wires that were melted onto the exhaust manifold... Right next to this fuel leak! Funny, Windish did reimburse me the full cost on this repair.
Other problems were - hot water tank had the wrong size plug; one was through into the compartment just to look good. Sky light was cracked and had to be replaced. However, it is used and I figured Windish just sells used RVs in poor condition.
The rip off here is paying a high price on a RV that I assumed was in good shape. The transmission failure and the fuel leak are items that should have been brought to my attention and the RV price accordingly. Again, my fault for not checking this price out or having the RV fully checked by a mechanic.
Do your homework prior to purchasing anything from Windish RV Center. Also, do NOT believe anything the sales person tells you, specially the Sales Manager. They are high pressure used car "slam dunk" sales people who only want your money. Avoid if you can; do your homework if not. They only want your money!
