I purchased an 2003 dodge intrepid from Green Gifford in December of 05. Last month I had my intrepid towed in to have the oil pan replaced which cost me 425.00. I was having it replaced because I cracked it by the drain plug by turning the bolt in the wrong direction. Yes the engine was hot and it's an aluminum oil pan. The crack is about a half inch to an inch long. I have one big oil spot in my driveway from the oil leaking (I didn't have the oil bucket directly under the drain hole.) Not to mention the threads in the pan are stripped from me turn it in the wrong direction. I got my car back and about a week later I was on the interstate going to pick up my 7 year old daughter from school, when low and behold my engine started thumping and clicking. I pulled over and had my car towed back to Green Gifford only for them to reject my warranty.
They rejected it because they say I hit something because I had scrapes on the front of the original oil pan which they say caused the crack by the drain plug. Keep in mind its a aluninum oil pan. The scrapes from the point of impact and the crack are about 8 to 10 inches apart.
