I have worked in the transmission repair business for over 20 years. 15 of those years in the DFW area. Sad to say it's a negative. I have always tried to the best job for my customers. Be honest and charge them a fair price. It used to be a fun business. It is not anymore especially what has happen to Eagle Transmission of Denton and probably most the DFW Eagle Transmission shops. There is not a doubt in my that there is more bad than good. The last 4 years the transmission business has declined for various reasons. 9-11, unemplyment, give away car sales. Consumers had no money so they would trade their vehicle for a new one instead repairing. Plus they are just making cars better today. About 30% of shops that were here 4 years ago are gone.
With less cars to work and some shops not having information to repair them have resulted in, once good honest dealers becoming dishonest. Such is the case with Eagle Transmission of Denton. When I first meet the husband, wife team that were opening a new shop in great area. They were a much needed fresh air in this business. The husband's firat quote to me was. "I know that this businness has a bad rep and I am going to change that".
This was October. For the last year not so. I really don't know what happen to him. He left his full time job started a few other businesses that weren't doing what he thought they should so he started to pressure all employees to start committing fraud. His favorite saying now is "paint in blue and call it new". Tell the customer they had bad transmission pull it out paint it.
Don't replace any trans parts. Fix the MINOR problem. Then charge a full retail price anywhere from $1500 to $4500. He even started doing these things to his neighbors. A personal friend who owns a landscaping business. We will call him David. UNT students where parents are supporting these kids. The list goes on and on. I have most of the names of people who came under his greed and deciept. Sad story for a good guy I once called a friend. What happen to me. When I found what was going on and told him no more, after almost 4 years of loyal service I was cut loose and he refused to pay my vacation pay.
Am I bitter? Yeah wouldn't you. I just want to make it right with people he ripped off. The last straw a customer named Harry came in with a Mazda 626 with a destroyed transmission and all mounts were broken. It was quite expensive to repair $3000. Sold the job the customer was extremely happy. One thing, the customer had marginal engine that was not so good. The owner demanded not to tell the customer of this problem. His comment was not my problem. 1 day after customer picked up the car the engine blew up. Is that right? I have to sleep at night.
I know when or if he finds out about this report he will demand the other employees to lie. Sad he has some good people there that just can't find a job anywhere else and are stuck.
I hope I help some people by writing this truefull report. I hope I make difference to the few honest people in this business. Oh yeah, if even develoed software to make phoney tickets so he wouldn't have to pay the Eagle Home Office their franchise fee. Yeah, he even steals from people he does business with. I could write a book with facts about what he has done the last year to customers, venders and people he does business with
