The ramp on the truck I rented was the first issue. Couldnt get it to pull out and latch. Second problem was going up hill, the truck continually overheated, so in blazing heat outside, I had to turn on the heat inside to keep the engine from boiling over. Most uncomfortable. Mind you I had alot of mountain passes to go over between Wash. And TN. Most of all, the retread tire blew out in the middle of S. Dakota.
It was 105 degrees outside and I had to wait 2 1/2 hours for roadside assistance. I had 2 choices while waiting: stay in the cab and run the air and blow the engine from overheating, then reload a new 16 foot truck with all my stuff, or find a little shade on the side of the road. I did the latter and I suffered mild heat stroke and set me back a whole day. I white knucke the rest of the trip thinking what else could go wrong.
I was compensated $210.00! Hardly worth the extra hotel stay. Life is cheap at buget truck rental.
