Just got back from Nessenger 112 looking to buy a 2005 Chevy Cobalt. My wife had been there earlier in the day with my son and wanted me to see the car they had listed for $17000. IT WAS NOT NEW, it had 20,000 miles on it. No way I was paying that money for a used Cobalt. So we get there and I tell the guy $13,000 is the max. After going to the "manager" the guy comes back and says, "well your wife agreed to $13,688." I say, "my wife agreed to nothing more than coming back and have me look at the car. And I follow up and say $13,000 is my top price.
So, salesman goes and comes back some time later (a good 10 minutes, meanwhile I am steaming) and says, "how about $13,188"? (what is it about $188 that they like?) Anyway I get up and say "thank you but no thanks" and before I get my ass out of the chair he says $13000 is ok. What is that crap, give me the high price, but when I am ready to walk, then hand me my price??? After calming down at being taken for a sucker I agree.
So the guy writes up the paper work and I look and I don't like the $37 for inspection (it should have only been $10 for the car) and the $12.50 for "tire disposal, but I agree. So wee add up all the shit and I agree after taxes and such so my wife gives the credit card and goes off to "process" the transaction. Then the guy comes back and says, "someone crossed this off this fee" and it's for over $500. I ask what it's for and the guy says for transporting and cleaning and handling the vehicle. I say "why should I have to pay for all that crap. The car is as it is and I don't care where it came from and whoever cleaned it did a crappy job and blah blah blah".
So, to end it all I walked out. Seems they wanted $17000 for the car and were willing to let it go for $15,000 and no matter what I said or threatened to walk away they were going to find a way to get their money.
It smacks of bad business and I (and anyone I can convince) will not ever ever ever buy a car fram any Nessenger car dealer.
