Complaint / Review
Greenville Chevrolet
Illegal activity, dishonest, unprofessional & unorganized, rude, ripoff

I traded in a car and bought a Chevy Impala from Greenville Chevrolet. I signed the contract on April 30. Everything was going fine, or so I thought, until 2 weeks later.

I called the dealership to ask them a question, and they proceeded to inform me that they had made a mistake on the contract and needed me to come up and re-do a new contract and pay them some money.

I was very upset because I was under the impression that once you sign a contract it is legal-binding and the deal is done. But, apparently not in this case. I was asking them a lot of questions regarding this issue because I felt it was wrong. Then, they started threatening me that if i did not come in and sign a new contract and pay them the money they needed to fix their mistake, they wouldn't pay off the car i traded in.

Finally, I caved in and gave them the monay and signed a new contract on May 13. They made a deal with me that, for my aggrivation and inconvenience, they would tint the windows on my car. So, I thought everything was taken care of and I was in the clear. Wrong!

The next issue I had was with the service department. I have had my car in 4 times to have the tint fixed because they cannot get the job done right. Then they informed me that they did not want to mess with my car anymore because I was not "a paying customer." This man argued with me for 30 minutes; and might I add that I have never been talked to so rudely and unprofessionally in my life. So, they will not fix my windows and refuse to give me a warranty for the work they have done. Then after all of that, they lost my check and after 23 days I had to pay $30. To cancel payment on it.

Then, after a couple of weeks I started calling the dealership to check on when my liscence plates would be in. Throughout the ordeal of this car-buying experience, I went through 3 paper dealer tags because they kept expiring. For three weeks after I called they were telling me that the tax office was running behind and the plates would be to me in a few days.

After three weeks of telling me that my plates would be here in a few days, a girl finally spilled the beans on June 13 that they could not get my registration or plates because they were having to file for a lost title!!! They had been lying to me since the day i signed the contract and then they waited a month to even file for a lost title!

On top of all of this, I find out that the car I traded in was sold right away, and guess what, the title had not been changed and is still in my name!

Then, after they finally got the lost title from the tax office, they told me that they had forgotten to have me sign paperwork on the second contract I signed to get the title into my name. So, once again I had to make a trip up there to fix their mistake.

I now have my liscence plates and registration sticker, finally. But, I am still having to wait a few days to make sure they got all of the paperwork right so that everything gets switched over smoothly so that I can refinance the car. Which is what i was in the middle of doing when we found all of this out. Now I am having to wait for everything to get straightened out so that we can start over and refinance it.

I contacted the title office and they informed me that what the dealership was doing was illegal and totally wrong. I also have friends that have worked in the car business for many years that have also informed me that what they are doing is completely illegal.

People need to be aware of what they are doing. I am sure I am not the only one. I am not sure of what legal actions I can take against them, but iI will find out and pursue making them be accountable for their actions. I f you are reading this and have knowledge of anything I can do about this, please let me know.

Thank You for your time and concerns.
