During Hurricane Katrina, I had to take my car which the serpentine belt had broke to the nearest Svc cen, Pepboys auto in Hazlet N.J. It happened on the way home from work, I really need my car to get to work, the disrespectful front end manager noticed this urgency, and told me car would be ready in about a day. As each day went by, he wouldn't call, or when i did, he would say call me back, they kept my car for 5 day's.

Had to take a cab to work, 35.00 one way. Finally he said i could come pick it up, and for another 90.00 dollars, he could further fix the remaining problem, because my car now sounded like a cement mixer he stated. He said he replaced the Idler/Tension pulley idler, Serpentine belt, Alternator drive belt, Belt tensioner, and heater hose, with parts being 194.50, and labor 255.00, $476.47 was the bill.

Car was really messed up, on 11/30,05, found a reputable svc center where they had to replace water pump, Serpentine belt, Tensioner/pulley all over again. They asked me who had done the work prior to this, after i told them they knew right away, i wanted to call the B.B.B. He suggested that i do, so i had to pay $432.30

Pep boys knew he ripped me off, also he knew as he looked at me that he had taken me, and my job responsibilities were high priority big time during this time. So he had like 3 guys standing behind him, i guess he was concerned about possible adverse reactions, but i wouldn't give him the satisfaction. I also seen Pep boys destroy this poor womans car that had broken down. She didnt know nothing about repairs. I even heard the guy remark, and laugh how he was going to take advantage of this one, i heard they billed her for over 1000.00 dollars. I felt real bad for the lady but didnt know how i could have stopped it.

I hope pepboys is stopped from doing this to consumers. I guess i should have wrote the BBB, just seem like it was hard to by myself, at the time working 6 days a week, 12 hours a day. I hope they stop taking advantage against naive, or stranded Motorists, The managers name at pepboys was...
