Re: Alamo Rental Car / Unauthorized charges to my credit card and continued
Harassment for unexplained charges

On 2-15-02, I rented a car from Alamo Rental Car from their location in Dallas, Texas, Dallas Love Field. Approximately 2 hours later, I had an accident in the car because the brakes failed!!!

The accident occurred in Emery, Texas. I called Alamo's accident line immediately and reported the accident. The car was not driveable and I offered to have the car towed AT MY EXPENSE, with my Triple A card, back to Dallas, Texas.

Alamo refused to do this and told Traylor Towing in Emery, Texas to tow the car. That way (I found out later) they could charge me over $900.00 in towing and storage fees!

I furnished Alamo Rental a claim number from my insurance company immediately after the accident as I had refused the Alamo insurance.

Mary and Randy at Alamo Rental at Dallas Love Field assured me they would be bringing me another car this was at 7PM

I was told at 1030 PM the night of the 15th that Jim at the Alamo office at DFW airport would be bringing me a car, as the Dallas Love Field Office was closing.

When I contacted the 800 number at 0330 in the morning (1-800-803-4444) they told me that Jim was refusing to bring me a car until he had his car back!

I was left sitting in Emery, Texas all night, outside in the cold (30 degree weather) without a car and traveling alone!

I was finally driven to my destination by an off duty policeman at 0530 in the morning.

When I called Alamo the next morning, 2-16-02, I was informed that they would not bring me another car until after the holiday of 2-18-02 and NOT BEFORE THEY HAD THE ORIGINAL VEHICLE RETURNED TO THEM.

This was after they had my Personal Car insurance claim number and the claim number from my Platinum Visa Card's Car Insurance and two Platinum credit card numbers from me!

This would be a Four day wait from the original rental date.

I never heard from Alamo again and finally rented a car
from another agency.

During this time, my own insurance agent was also given the run-a-round and told that she could not see the car until after the holidays (I was paying storage all this time).

I was told byMary and Randy in the Dallas Love Field office that I would not be charged for the days
that I did not have the car. This turned out to be another lie.

When I arrived home, I received my credit card bill. I was charged for the full rental agreement amount of $368.27 along with another unauthorized amount of $570.49.

I was never told about the $570.49, was given no paper work to back up this charge and did not authorize either charge.

Alamo never replaced the car when I was assured that as soon as they had my insurance information (which I gave them immediately after the accident) that
they would supply me with another car.

My insurance agent can also verify that the claim was made immediately after this accident. She recently received a letter that she had OVERPAID Alamo, while at the same time they are still sending me bills (see below)

Today, May 6, I received a letter from Roderick K. McPhee, 1-800-327-0421 Ext. 2854 threatening that if I don't pay the 141.15 within 10 days from the date of the letter (5-2-02), he will turn it over to
collections!

Mr. McPhee has been contacted by both insurance companies regarding this amount and he has refused to answer their request for an explanation.

This company should not be able to treat human beings, especially women traveling alone, in this manner!

Then they turn around and blackmail you, after they've been paid and overpaid in full!

If anyone can help me, please reply to this complaint. Any good attorney's out there?
