Seven months after renting a car from Alamo at DFW airport in Dallas, I received a letter saying I had incurred a 65-cent citation to which they added on a $10 "administrative fee". After some investigation and a talk with the Texas Dept of Transportation, I learned that one of the northbound freeways from DFW, drivers are assessed a 65-cent video toll. A visitor to the area would never know this. When I told the officer that Alamo had slapped on a $10 fee he told me they get this call "all the time".in other words, by not mentioning this video toll at the time of rental, Alamo has created a nice little profit center. When I called Alamo back and asked them to waive the fee, the customer rep at first told me she would consider it "once in a lifetime" and then came back on and told me she had decided not to. When I politely expressed my frustration, she hung up on me. My advice: stay away from Alamo Car Rental at DFW, or if you do rent from them— be sure to ask them about the 65-cent video toll so that don't stick with a $10 fee after the fact.
