Late this afternoon went to Larry Miller Toyota (LMT) to look for a car for my wife. She wanted a toyota, period. Carlos was salesman and we found a 2006 Toyota Corolla certified used car with approx 7400 miles.
Our next stop was with Walter Mundt, with finance. Our credit was good and we mentioned we were going to pay the car off early. It was brought to our attention to apply for a longer term loan therefore more payment would go to the principal. Certain additional costs were explained (ie: extended warranty and gap insurance) to our satisfaction. Other add ons were mentioned very briefly (seat protectant, alarm and theft system) with never a price being mentioned.
My wife had written a $5000.00 check for down payment on the vehicle.
Upon arriving home approx 830pm my wife noticed that the windshield had a crack in it and looked at the add ons that were not explained and immediately called LMT back (this is approx 30 minutes after we had left LMT). She had Walter Mundt's card in her hand and wanted to tell him to hold the check because of the problem with the windshield and we wanted to look at a new car. She was rudely told that Walter was not your salesman (WE KNEW THAT) that Carlos was and she was humg up on.

830am Twelve hours after we left the dealership I called Walter about the problems and to hold the paperwork that I would be taking off work early and we would be coming in to look at a new car. Walter could not find the file from 12 hours ago and that he would call me back.
1055am (TWO AND HALF HOURS LATER) I receive a call from Walter who tells me that the Corolla was funded. Told him I would see him in a few hours.
Got off work early and went to talk to Walter, was basically told we had bought the Corolla and nothing could be done outside of adjusting the interest rate.
Called my wife, she was not happy with this because she was upset about the windshield and wanted a new car.
Called Walter back told him wife was not happy and to run me the paperwork on a Camry with 0% financing, he said he would have it ready when we came back.
Arrived back at LMT with my wife and a lady (blond) from the finance dept came and talked to us and told us the corolla was funded and to TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT. Asked about 0% finance on camry, there is no 0% finance on camry take it or leave it.
We now are hooked up with Arlene "boboy" Reyes as our salesman who is from the Philippines and spoke the same tongue as my wife. My wife picks out a 2006 Matrix. Huey is the new finance officer, explained that because we had bought the add ons on the corolla we had to buy them on the matrix, WHY?
Bottom line: on a 19000 car minus 5000 check from wife the total financing came to 26500 because we were told we bought the first car. Her check was still in the bank on SUNDAY NIGHT FEB 12 and did not clear until monday 2.13.06
2.17.06 Talk to Chrissy with customer service and tell her the story, and was told I will have someone call you back. I call Chrissy back on 2.23.06, no one has called you back? What can I do to help you?
2.27.06 Call Toyota Motor Credit (TMC) NO RECORD OF COROLLA but there is record of the Matrix. TMC tells me they probably cancelled the corolla contract. If we paid for it like we were told TMC should have a record of
it, they have a record of the matrix which was purchased a day later.
Talked to Robert (finance) asked him for a copy of when the corolla was funded, he said "it was none of my business".
Talked to Robert Brawdy told him the story, he said he would have Joe Dennis, store manager call me.
3.3.06 1015am Receive a call at work from Michael Zaug from LMT. Told him to call me later when I got home. M Zaug calls me back and tells me he is my first line of defense and that he is on my side!!! He tells me he knows nothing of the story but knows the date when we first came in and the style of car that was involved in the first transaction. M. Zaug tells me that he will have Joe Dennis (Dealership Manager) give me a call.
3.07.06 I AM STILL WAITNG FOR THE CALL. I call TMC and there is still no record of us purchasing the corolla.
