Last summer I was baited with an ad "4 tires 13 inch for $80.00" The add also listed 14 inch for $100.00 or 15 inch for $120.00. My wife's car needed 2 new tires so I thought that I would just buy 4. After taking the car to Tire-Rama I found they did not have those 13 inch tires. They told me they did not have much call for smaller tires. I bought instead 2 tires for $82.20.
Then a few monthes later I see the same add running. Two friends of mine went in for tires. The friend with a camaro with 15 inch tires found they did not have the $120.00 tires, either. My other friend has 14 inch tires and of course they didn't have those either. This is an obvious case of bait and switch but we all wrote it off thinking "what can you do?".
In the meantime I find this site and think about the ripoff. Now I see the same ad running again. I think the Tire-Rama feels that bait and Switch works real well, as this is about the 4th time I have seen this same ad in the past 8 monthes or so.
Somewhere I could swear that I heard Bait and Switch was Illegal.
