Progressive Insurance
Dishonest ripoff

My story is a little confusing but I'll try to explain as clearly as possible. I purchased insurance online on Feb 2. I purchased another car later that day. On Feb 3 I called the 1-800 number to have the other car placed on the insurance.

While adding my other vehicle with full coverage, he explained to me that I only had liability for my Cadillac. I asked him to change it to full coverage. He said he would. For some strange reason, the rep. Told me that it would take until Tuesday to process but it should be online by then. Ok.

On Monday morning, there's a knock on my door and the police have found my Cadillac abandoned and crashed. It was stolen. I contact Progressive as told and let them know what had happened. I was told that someone would contact me within two hours.

Three days later, I call to speak with someone about my car. The adjuster immediately began recording my conversation and taking my statement. She offered me no information about the process or anything. After she finished taping, she gave me her numbers and hung up.

Tuesday, Feb. 7th. I check my online coverage. I only have full coverage for the Grand Marquis. I call the 1-800 number and explain my situation and the conversation which took place on Feb. 3. The service representative apologizes and fixes the policy to full coverage as I had requested on Feb. 3rd.

Thursday, Feb 9th. I get a phone call from the adjuster giving me the third degree about my policy and when did I request full coverage. I told her on the 3rd and of course she tried to change it.

Well today, Feb. 10th, I'm wondering what's going on. Soooo. I call the local office to see. I was told that my claim was placed on full coverage on Feb. 7th., after my car was stolen.

He went on to explain that they were waiting on recordings for both dates to be sure. I am not a happy camper. I feel that they can put whatever on those recordings so they aren't liable. I told him I didn't mind what they were waiting for, bottom line is I have full coverage and it shows effective Feb. 3rd on my online policy.

I've made a copy of it and placed it in a safe place. I believe I'm going to have to get a lawyer to resolve this.
