We traded a 2001 vehicle for a 2005 Toyota Seinna on 10 December and the selling price for the new vehicle was $24,995. We took delivery that Saturday after a few hours of negotiating on various things. The interest rate was to be 7.9%. The following Wednesday, we were notified that my credit rating wasn't good enough and that my wife's was much better and the vehicle could be financed in her name and that she would have to come back to the dealership and re-sign the papers. While she was there, I was at work and I received a call from the finance manager, Art, and was told that the only change to the papers would be the interest rate going to 8.9% instead of 7.9%. I told me wife to sign the papers and she did. I neglected to make a copy of the first set of papers that we were given as Art quickly shredded them since he told her that she had to bring them in before she could sign the new set of papers. The bottom line is that they changed the selling price from $24,995 to $26,995 and added a dealers preparation fee of $750 which means I now have a year old vehicle with a pay-off of $31,000 and only one key. I am very displeased and I called Art when I realized the situation and he says he only puts down what the salesman, Jose Soto, tells him to put, therefore pleading ignorance. Jose told me that if I came in he would expalin my papers to me. My fault for letting my wife go there alone to sign anything and I regret not making copies of all papers that they gave us. We can prove nothing but we know that all of this is true and factual. For future reference, I would strongly recommend that anyone purchasing a car from Central Florida Toyota, as soon as you leave the lot, go directly to Kinkos, do not pass go, copy a paperwork cause you're gonna need it.
