Origionally in July of I took my Jeep Grand Cheokee Laredo into Lopez Auto Service to have an engine rebuilt. I was given an estimate of $2600.By the end of the repairs it had gone up to $3665.74, and numerous repairs had been made to the vehicle during the 4 weeks the car remained in their shop! I picked up the car, the end of August from their shop, making payment arragements with them, for the remaining balance of $1200. I gave them 3 post dated checks for $400, each. The checks were dated every 2 weeks for the next month and a half! Unfortunately the car stopped running before the end of the month of September! According to Lopez Auto it had nothing to do with the engine and they refused to fix it! After spending close to $4000, to have my car repaired I was livid, and filed a complaint with the better business bureau, who looked into it and suggested that I file a civil suit in small claims court, because they couldn't help me. I do not have the money to do this as I am a single parent who had taken an advance from my employer to afford the engine repair, and am still paying that back to my employer at this time. The repair shop states they believe it is the computer that has gone out in the Jeep, and it will cost me another $2000 to fix it. The warantee company that the engine is warranteed through, provided me a checklist of what should have been repaired/replaced, and explained that the entire car should have been checked out, because the engine stopped working for some reason, and as that reason was unknown it needed to be found and repaired before an engine rebuild was done. Yet the repair shop got away with this and supposidly nothing can be done about their ripping me off! According to the repair shop my car needed an alignment, yet they didn't check the computer system before returning it to me! You spend $4000.00, and your car isn't fully checked out before it's returned? Sounds a little weird to me! They refuse to assist me with this matter nor do I want them to touch my car!
