Lobel unfairly reposses again!

I missed a payment to Lobel and contacted them when I knew I was not going to be able to make that payment. At that time I asked them what the payoff amount would be as I was having some funds comming from a family trust. The employee stated the amount and stated that that amount included interest through Jan 13 and was a good amount to send a check for until that date. This took place week ending 12/17.

On 12/16 I was contacted by another employee of Lobel and she stated that they needed a payment now! I explained to her that the total amount of the payoff had been sent by US Mail on 12/16. At this time she became even more insistant that I make a payment at that time and over the phone. As I had already mailed a check for the total amount of the payoff I felt it was not in my best interest to pay this company more than I owed them. Especially considering the tone of the conversation led me to believe that I could not trust them with an overpayment.

On 12/18/05 in the evening my neighbor came to me and stated that someone had called her and wanted her to verify the licensee plate number on my car and proceeded to tell her that I was behind on my payments and how much I owed them.

I called Lobel on 12/19 and reported this. Of course the company denied ever contacting my neighbor or having a repossession company involved at that time. On 12/20 I was contacted again by a Lobel employee insisting that I make a payment. This was in the afternoon approx 3:00 pm and I asked if my car was to be repossessed and the employee took a few minutes and said to me that my car was not assigned to anyone for repossession.

The morning of 12/21 my car was repossessed. When I asked why it was that it was not on a list at 3:00 the day before they conviently responded that it was assigned for repo at 4:00 pm on 12/20/05. It did not matter to them at all that my payment of the payoff amount was in the mail. Now they have my car and my payoff check and still have issued no formal notice that my car was in their possession and where it was located (both required by law)

There are over 80 similar complaints filed with the Los Angeles BBB on Lobel over the last three years, and at least six other consumer complaintss on this website. This company stinks, dont do business with them.instead, turn and run, they don;'t care about you and don't deserve your money.
