Kilmon Transmissions - AAMCO
Ripoff, Had $2,100 tranny work and drove away the same day with a jacked up transfer case and shaft

My girlfriends 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4*4 had to have a new tranny installed, her fathertold her to take it to Aamco because he wouldnt have the time to fix it himself, so her vehicle was brought to Kilmon Transmissions 1949 Va Beach Blvd where they had her jeep for almost 3 weeks. Now this is her only means of transpertation so i ended up giving her my truck and i drove my parents second vehicle.

After getting her Jeep back Aamco recomends bringing the vehicle back in 10 days for an EXTERNALDIAGNOSTIC to keep up with their "warranty", I dont ever drive her jeep therefore i had no idea that before she was to take it back there was a grinding noise in the dash when she decellerated. I was unable to go with her to this follow-up to AAmco but the owner of the shop was who she discussed the problem with and he was even nice enough to show her the cause of the problem, did not offer to fix or even give her any other info about it.

Now it has been a 7 months since this issue and only 7000 miles and i have been driving her jeep the last 3 weeks and it is horrible not only is the grinding worse but hte jeep has no power and slips upon initial take off and between 40 & 50 mph so I decided to get involved because i know a bit about trucks. So I put it on the lift @ my job and come to find out the shaft that enters the transfer case (which is removed and reinstalled when a tranny is rebuilt) was inserted inproperly and now has a leak and a torn seal which was identified by the owner of the shop 10 days after service.

When i went in today 12/18/05 to talk to them i was very calm and was explaining the situation to one of the guys when another VERY RUDE voice from behind me chimed in with a very nasty tone telling me that "I didnt know what the hell i was talking about, there is no shaft in the transfer case it bolts up to the back of the tranny and that they didnt even have to touch the transfer case when doing the rebuild" he also was being very argumentitive and condisending as well as yelling and cursing at me.

What he didnt know was that i had already taken this problem to a Dodge, Jeep, Chrysler certified mechanic for diagnosis and it is a transfer case and there is a drive shaft that comes out of it that goes top the front differential and it is removed and re-installed when tranny service is done and it is also impairative that this is removed and installed a particular way or it will damage the end of the shaft hooking up to the transfer case, which this has done.

After much arguing they told me that they only warranty work that they did which was the tranny that keep in mind has a slipping issue but i feel they are at fault for the damage done to this transfer case as well as the shaft do to thei ignorance. I asked the angry owner man to come outside and i would show him just what it was i was talking about, he declined on my way out he asked his buddy I was origionally dealing with waht type of vehicle and tranny it had.

I had my paperwork so i butted in and told him, and he told his buddy in a cocky tone "I justed wanted to make sure i was right about the transfer case" well this pissed me off so I went outside got down on mt knees and took a picture of the problem part with my camera phone and went back inside and asked the angry owner man to look @ my picture he didnt want to but after arguing a bit more he did and was unable according to him "Identify" the part from my photo.

I already had all my ducks in a row before going to this store so then the angry smart mouth owner jerk came ouside and we looked under the car together and as I tried to tell him before the part and problem i tried to tell him about calmly in the store did in fact exsist, and they are supposed to be the tranny specialists??? He admitted it was the parts i told him and admitted that it is removed and re-installed during tranny rebuilds, but they didnt damage it.

Im going back tomorrow @ 2 for a rematch and for them to fix the slippage and lack of power problem and i guess I will have to eat the damage to the transfer case and shaft do to their ignorance and I will fix it myself, cause i know what Im doing but between going to tech school a girlfriend and a full-time job time and money are the reason they make places like aamco that you SHOULD be able to depend on to get quality, reliability, and a fair price but NOT at Kilmon Transmissions @ 1949 Virgina Beach Blvd 23454.

He's just a smart mouth mean and nasty man and not to mention a sheisty crook who took advantage of my girlfriend who doesnt know much about trucks when she went for her 10 day warranty diagnosic. This place stinks of crap because the owner is full of the stuff!!!
