Southern Cycles
Slow and sloppy service

Monday, Feb. 4th of I went to Southern Cycle to get a new rear tire for my bike, (1994 Yamaha Virago). I was told that they would have to order one, and that they would do so that day, and that it should be in on Wednesday or Thursday of that week. So, I made an appointment for Thursday afternoon after I got off of work to bring the bike down for my new tire.

Upon arriving there on Thursday I was told that UPS has not ran yet for that day (almost 5:00 PM) and that it would be Friday before they could get the bike back to me. Ok, giving them the benefit of the doubt, I payed my bill in advance, and left the bike with them.

On Friday evening I was told almost the same thing, that UPS has been by, but did not deliver the tire. It would be Monday the earliest they could get the job done.

Monday was a new excuse. UPS must have lost it and they were tracking it down.

Tuesday they were still tracking, but ordered a new tire. Will definately be here on Wednesday.

On Wednesday when the job was not finished or even started becuase UPS did not deliver the tire again, we asked for the tracking number ourselves. Under our own inquiries we found out that there was only one order, and not two, and that the tire was ordered on Tuesday afternoon and scheduled to be there on Thusday.

On Thursday we called and they just finished with the bike. So, we went to pick it up. I was told to be careful for 10 miles or so, because the tire still had the packing lubricant on it and it would be pretty slick. After leaving, and riding down 41-A hwy. (which anybody can tell you can be pretty congested at times), a car in front of the car in front of me came to a sudden stop, so as we are all climbing on the brakes to avoid hitting each other I found that I had no rear brakes. Thank goodness there was nobody in the left lane of me at the time.

Upon arriving in my driveway I found that the operating rod for the rear brake was never propperly adjusted. Just put back in place and the wing-nut that secures it was attached by a few threads.

Thanks so much Tina for a week delay on an appointment, plus the near death experience I almost had!
